Job Description

A Wholesale and Distributing Company, seeking a skilled Accountant, fluent in both English and Portuguese, to join their team at our head office in Germiston. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting with experience both nationally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

South African Duties:

  • Daily cashbook processing and bank reconciliation
  • Processing of monthly journals
  • Ensuring insurance claims are followed up and finalized
  • Analyzing insurance payments and submitting monthly status reports
  • Handling bank queries and credit card administration
  • Ensuring credit card statements reconcile with the general ledger
  • Assisting the Financial Manager as needed

Mozambique Duties:

  • Daily capturing of the bank account and allocation to debtors’ accounts
  • Managing debtor accounts and following up with the branch manager on outstanding amounts
  • Capturing and maintaining petty cash transactions
  • Preparing cross-border documents and invoices for stock sent to Mozambique
  • Preparing clearing documents for cross-border transactions and ensuring duties are correctly calculated
  • Liaising with clearing agents for timely deliveries
  • Ensuring INSS, IRPS, and VAT are correctly calculated, captured, and payments are made on time
  • Maintaining the asset register and monthly depreciation
  • Preparing monthly journal entries and management accounts

Requirements

  • Fluency in English and Portuguese (spoken, read, and written)
  • Reside in the East Rand or South Rand with reliable transportation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4-5 years of experience as an accountant/bookkeeper at national and international levels
  • Experience with import and export processes is advantageous
  • Proficiency in Navision software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong deadline management
  • Possession of a valid passport for potential international travel is advantageous

Non-negotiable specifications:
• The individual should be fully literate in both English and Portuguese (speak, read and write).
• Preferably, applicants should reside in the East Rand or South Rand and possess their own reliable transport
