About the Italian South African Chamber of Trade and Industries
The Italian South African Chamber of Trade and Industries (ItalCham) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering economic and trade relations between Italy and South Africa. With offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, the Chamber supports businesses through networking, advocacy, and trade facilitation.
Role Overview
ItalCham is looking for a Cape Town Office Representative to lead its presence in the Western Cape, focusing on membership development, fundraising, project oversight, and high-level representation at institutional and business events. The ideal candidate will have a strong network in the Cape Town business community and the Italian community in the Western Cape and be fluent in Italian and English.
Key Responsibilities
1. Membership Development & Fundraising
- Identify and engage potential new members to expand ItalCham’s network in the Western Cape.
- Strengthen relationships with existing members, ensuring retention and active participation.
- Develop and implement fundraising initiatives to support the Chamber’s activities.
- Secure sponsorships and partnerships with local and international businesses.
2. Strategic Oversight of Cape Town-Based Projects & Events
- Supervise and coordinate Chamber-led initiatives, trade missions, and sector-specific projects in the region.
- Supervise and coordinate junior staff and interns in Cape Town in relation to Cape Town based activities
- Plan and execute business networking events, industry roundtables, and trade-focused programs.
- Ensure alignment between Cape Town projects and the Chamber’s national and international strategy.
3. Representation & Business Engagement
- Represent ItalCham at institutional meetings, business forums, and diplomatic events.
- Act as the Chamber’s liaison with local government, trade organizations, and the Italian community.
- Support business matchmaking and facilitate trade delegations between Italy and South Africa.
- Promote ItalCham’s services to local and international stakeholders.
Requirements
- Fluency in Italian and English (spoken and written).
- Strong network within the Cape Town business community and the Italian community in the Western Cape.
- Experience in membership development, fundraising, business development, or corporate engagement.
- Event planning and project management skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently while maintaining close collaboration with Cape Town junior staff and the Chamber’s Johannesburg office.
- Knowledge of South African-Italian business relations and trade sectors is an advantage.
